Since the late nineteen eighties, our modelling capability has been at the core of our expertise, building ever more quality and value into the studies we conduct for our clients. Safege develops and markets its own modelling tools and has forged enduring partnerships with research centres, SME innovators and providers of some of the best professional software available :

  • In 1986 and 1989, Safege created the water distribution and district heating modelling systems, Piccolo and Picalor, handling development, marketing and support for those products until 2004. Those services are now managed by Adélior France, operating in partnership with Safege.

  • Arlab/Safege were the first to carry out groundwater modelling studies using Newsam, the fruit of a collaborative effort by the Geological Computer Science Centre of Mines ParisTech, and Arlab.
  • For over 15 years now, Safege has worked in partnership with DHI Water & Environment for the development and marketing of the Danish company's urban water and river modelling systems.
  • A long-time partner of Safege, the mathematical modellers Seamer became part of the company at the beginning of 2007. (Seamer is the inventor of SEAMER_3D (Mars suite), the product of 20 years' research within Ifremer, then Seamer as an independent entity).
  • Safege works with Novimet, the creator of ZPHI HU© which uses weather radar data technology for real-time calculation of depths of precipitation as input data for flood warning systems.

Piccolo, Mouse, Mike Urban, Mike 11, Mike Flood, ModFlow and SEAMER_3D, are Safege's tools of choice. Our clients may of course use other systems, in which case we will recommend the approach that yields the best results, either using the client's tool ourselves or converting the data at the end of the study.

Our modelling expertise enables us to deliver integrated solutions to the operational challenges faced by our clients: Qualicôte®, for example, a bathing water quality forecasting system developed in partnership with Actimar, incorporates a whole suite of coupled models, embracing meteorological, runoff, discharge, hydrodynamic and marine dispersion processes.
