| Active in Latin America since the nineteen fifties, Safege set down roots in the region in 1993 with the creation of a branch in Argentina to provide engineering services for the investment programme at Aguas Argentinas (the then water and sewer operator for Greater Buenos Aires), then similar services for the province of Santa Fe and city of Córdoba. Other major projects were to follow: in Colombia, project management services for the water and sewerage systems of Palmira and establishment of district metering areas in Bogotá; in Peru, engineering services for the rehabilitation and extension of the water distribution system of Lima and Callao; in Uruguay, improvement of the management of the national water company… as well as technical assistance and investment planning services for Puerto Rico and projects in Honduras, Ecuador and Trinidad and Tobago. | | |
Since the termination of the Aguas Argentinas contract in 2007,
Safege has continued its activities in Latin America, operating under a cooperation and technical assistance agreement with Safege Argentina S.A. (an Argentinian company formed by the employees of the former Safege branch) and with the support of representative offices in Argentina, Colombia, Peru and Trinidad and Tobago.
