DEVELOPMENT OF NATURAL ENVIRONMENTAL STRATEGIES FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AT KAZAKHSTAN, KYRGYSTAN AND TAJIKISTAN

| In 2006, Safege was awarded the technical assistance contract for the development of National Environmental Strategies for Sustainable Development in the central Asian countries of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
The aim of the project was to improve the national environmental strategies of the three countries and their programmes for sustainable development, and more specifically to build national and local government capacities in strategic planning and implementation of such programmes.
In addition to providing advisory services and assistance in establishing pilot projects to implement national policy at the local level, Safege also set up cooperation mechanisms for environmental protection and, in particular, sharing of transboundary resources.

FIDIC ENGINEER SUPERVISION OF WORK FOR REHABILITATION OF THE M06 ROAD

| In 2005, Safege was awarded the contract for the supervision of the road rehabilitation works on the M06 Kiev-Chop road in Ukraine.
This €2.5 million contract, financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), is for services in connection with €110 million of works, to be implemented over a period of 44 months and including 30 months of construction management.
Safege's resident team will assist the Employer in contract administration and ensure supervision of the project as "Engineer" in the FIDIC system.
The works concern two sections of the M06 road south-west and east of Lviv, between the towns of Brody et Striv. |
In addition to the rehabilitation works and significant improvements in road safety, the project also provides for the construction and repair of numerous road structures, including more than 50 bridges. Construction work is hampered by poor weather and heavy traffic.
