A recent entity, created in 2004, the Division has seen a four-fold increase in revenue and currently generates about a third of Safege's international turnover.

Most of our activities in Algeria are centred on our core businesses : engineering studies and design and project management services in the water and wastewater sectors, including feasibility and planning studies, assessments and master plans, design and construction supervision for the creation of water distribution and sewer systems, reservoirs and storage tanks, pumping stations and treatment plants.

A noteworthy feature of our Algeria operations is the scale of the projects we have undertaken there : our biggest contract tops the €7 million mark and our smallest, a consultancy fee value of €1 million.

With 100 engineers, experts and support staff, the Algeria Division operates through a network of local offices: Safege Algeria, a firm incorporated under Algerian law with its registered office in Algiers, is the head office which oversees various representative offices set up for periods of two to three years, specifically for the purpose of carrying out individual projects. In 2007, Safege had project offices in Oran, Mila, Chelgoum Laid, Setif, Batna, El Oued, Ouargla, Blida and Djelfa.

The Safege Algeria management team has close, long-standing ties with key officials from the Ministry of Water Resources, the department with oversight for such contracting authorities as Algérienne des Eaux, the National Office for Sewage (ONA), the Hydraulic Departments of Wilayas (DHW), the National Agency for Dams and Water Transfer (ANBT) and the Directorate for Water Resources Development.
