![]() | Since 2002, the City of Paris has been working to develop a flood protection plan to protect the city against the risks associated with flooding of the River Seine on the scale that occurred in 1910.
Further to a first study to identify areas prone to sewer system overflows in such conditions, the city authorities are seeking to improve the reliability of the existing model of the Paris sewer system and to run simulations for different scenarios using a combined 1D sewer system/2D surface model. The study, which is financed jointly by the City of Paris and the Agence de l’Eau Seine-Normandie, aims to analyse the behaviour of the main sewer system structures and identify areas prone to flooding due to overloading of the sewer system. |
