SAFEGE Europe-Africa runs for Rwanda

This year, the 33rd “Brussels 20km” race was held on Sunday the 27th May. Among the 35.000 participants were 7 runners from the SAFEGE Europe Africa office.

On the initiative of the employees, SAFEGE Europe-Africa submitted a team in partnership with the Red Cross of Belgium, the cost of registration and the insurance having been provided by SAFEGE. Assisted by 600 other runners, through sponsorship, the SAFEGE team aimed to raise 45.000 Euros for the “Water” project in Rwanda, under the slogan “I run 20km to give them water”.

To date, 37.500 Euros have already been collected. According to the SAFEGE Team, this alliance between the private sector and a humanitarian project in Rwanda lent even more meaning to their participation in the semi-marathon: “It is brilliant to combine this 20km race with a humanitarian cause”, explained David. Alice added: “I am running for the Red Cross and access to water, for both the athletic challenge and also to challenge myself!” Marc and Maël also see these 20km as “a personal challenge that is all the more motivating since we have accomplished it as a team and because we have consistently encouraged one another”. As for Théophile, “This race is like our own Olympic Games!” On his side, Roman is a veteran in such marathons, having already taken part twice in Serbia.
